On December 12, David Kirkpatrick, Senior Editor, Internet & Technology, Fortune Magazine, sought answers from a panel before an audience at New School University in Manhattan. My point of view was that not only will technology generally be a renewed boost to the economy but that the Internet in particular will be the key driver — since we are only two percent of the way into what the Internet has in store for us. I also pointed out that the that most of the dot.com companies that failed went under because their business plans made no sense, not because of anything to do with the Internet. I also talked about the profound impact that WiFi is having.

Other members of the panel included Bob Savage of Microsoft, Sven Travis, Associate Provost for Technology at Parsons School of Design and Associate Provost for New Technology at New School University; Gregory Brill, president and founder of Infusion Development Corp, an IT training and consulting firm; and George Wood, Senior Engineer, Education Technical Operations, Apple Corporation. It was a lively discussion.
