We are very pleased to have Dr. John R. Patrick here with us today to discuss a topic that is near and dear to all of our hearts, the American healthcare system. On John Patrick’s business card it says he is President of Attitude LLC. He is also former vice president of Internet technology at IBM, where he worked for thirty-five years. But if you read between the lines — or have heard him speak at conferences throughout the world or read one of the many articles he’s been featured in — you’ll see that John’s unofficial title is healthcare and technology visionary. It’s one of the reasons why Business 2.0 magazine named him one of The 25 Most Intriguing Minds of the New Economy.
John has written four books. Net Attitude: What It Is, How to Get It, and Why Your Company Can’t Survive Without It was published in 2001. In 2015, he published Health Attitude: Unraveling and Solving the Complexities of Healthcare. In 2016, John published a new version of his first book. It is called Net Attitude: What it is, How to Get it, and Why it is More Important Than Ever. John’s newest book is Election Attitude – How Internet Voting Leads to a Stronger Democracy.
John was a founding member of the World Wide Web Consortium at MIT in 1994, a founding member and past chairman of the Global Internet Project, a member of the Internet Society and the American College of Healthcare Executives, a senior member of the Association for Computing Machinery, and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. John has been a business and technology advisor to numerous companies. He is a board member at Keeeb, Inc. and OCLC, Inc. He is a member of the Western Connecticut Health Network Biomedical Research Institute Advisory Council and a mentor at Blueprint Health.
