Richard Yin, chairman of WCIT 2000 was advised by Bill Gates on what could be done to improve the conference in Taipei – after the 1998 conference in Virginia. As a result, the Taipei organizers alotted 35 minutes for each of the 30 speakers and everyone gave their speech at the same location. One of the speakers was John Patrick.
