The debate about the OpenDocument format is still underway. See this link for a list of the stories in patrickWeb about it. Bob Sutor over at IBM just posted a very good story called "Open standards, open source, open minds, open opportunities". Rather than repeat or plagiarize it, here is a link to it. It is a worthwhile read about the difference between "open standards" and "open source". He also talks about an "openness movement" that he hopes will take hold in 2006. Me too. Bob will no doubt be discussing this on the SIIA Technology panel which I will be moderating in New York in a few weeks.
