Generative AI
Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that is designed to generate new content, such as text, images, videos, or audio, based on patterns it has learned from existing data. It is a subset of AI that focuses on creating rather than just recognizing patterns. In this blog post, I will show three examples of how friends and I have used generative AI to accomplish tasks with great efficiency. However, I must note generative AI comes with ethical considerations, as it can potentially be used to generate fake content or misinformation. I don’t think you will find any of that in my examples. Disclosure: I got a little help from Bard AI on this introductory paragraph.
Example 1
Mike Kaltschnee, Co-Director of Danbury Hackerspace, Inc. and a friend of mine, asked me if I would be willing to write a letter of support for the Innovation Studios project. Mike wanted to ensure strong support from the community for the project and he felt a letter of support from me would help since I live in the neighborhood of the project.
Mike explained the team was focusing on the real benefits of this project including:
1) The micro studios are in the $1,250 per month range to facilitate young people being able to afford an apartment in Danbury (154 studios at that price point will help all area employers; not to mention that 44 1BR’s at ~$1,775)
2) The most environmentally friendly development is redevelopment (zero new impact on the area). It is a building that has been closed for three years.
3) The Innovation Studios Makerspace will give young people, artists, and entrepreneurs more learning opportunities and access to prototyping tools, art, and light manufacturing equipment.
I copied the three points and pasted them into chatGPT and added “please write a letter of recommendation based on the three points. Within a couple of seconds and with only that small amount of input, chatGPT generated the following.

My son in Boston is a cloud services architect. He does some freelancing and decided to update his website to better describe his capabilities. He provided the following text and asked AI assistance to build a website from it. “Experience, personalized IT consulting. Providing guidance and expertise in the areas of cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, storage, systems, and virtualization. Let us build the infrastructure for your success!” That is all he provided to an AI-assisted website builder called hostinger.com. The generative AI built a complete website.
Example 3
My friend, Bob Cooper, likes Country Western music so he decided to give generative AI a shot at composing something. He asked chatGPT to compose a county music song about a truck, a dog, a beer and a moonlit night and a gal. Here is what he received almost instantly.
(Verse 1) In a small town, where the stars shine bright, There’s a tale of a truck on a moonlit night, Rollin’ down those country lanes so slow, With a loyal ol’ hound and a heart all aglow.
(Chorus) Truckin’ under that big ol’ moon, A cold beer in hand, hummin’ a tune, With my faithful dog by my side, And a country gal I hold with pride.
(Verse 2) The engine roars, a symphony of steel, As we chase that horizon, it’s surreal, My dog’s ears flap in the midnight breeze, And that gal’s laughter puts my soul at ease.
