New sections may appear every week or just when I have something new to share.

Two new videos are now on my YouTube channel. The Hammock Dunes Tech Talk 13 video is here. The Economic Round Table – San Francisco Zoom is here. In case you missed it from a prior post, my podcast with Ron Cey is here.

More talks are scheduled in May and June. Neither event is open to the public but I will publish videos if they agree.

On April 18, I gave a talk on “The Rise of AI and Bitcoin”for the Newtown, CT Men’s Club. The club has existed for more than 100 years. I had previously spoken to this group about healthcare in 2014 when I was just putting the final touches on my doctorate.

The talk by Zoom for the Economic Round Table – San Francisco was on April 10 . It was members and guests only, but is live on my YouTube channel here

March 28th was my 13th Tech Talk at Hammock Dunes Club. A PDF of my talk is at https://johnpatrick.com/techtalk13.pdf. The video is now available on my YouTube channel. I need to do some editing. I hope to have the final link next week.

I have been looking for the perfect jar opener for years. I finally found it and threw others away. It is the Seinohome Jar Opener.
The Seinohome is multifunctional but the most important to me is to open stubborn jars. It is fully adjustable.
The Seinohome can easily open the largest of large jars.

The Jukebox Saturday Night Concert at the Ridgefield Playhouse was fantastic.

Here are some key events and trends making news earlier this week, around April 22nd to April 26th, 2024:

Post-Halving Bitcoin Price Movement:

  • Market Reaction: Following the highly anticipated Bitcoin halving event (likely happened around April 20th), the market witnessed a period of volatility. While there wasn’t a sustained price surge immediately after the halving, some analysts predict a potential increase in the long term due to the reduced supply of new coins [CoinDesk].

  • Focus on Macroeconomic Factors: Financial experts continue to emphasize that broader economic factors like inflation and interest rate decisions might have a more significant influence on Bitcoin’s price in the near future, compared to the immediate impact of the halving [Cointelegraph].

Regulation and Institutional Adoption:

  • Global Regulatory Landscape: Regulatory developments around the world continue to shape the crypto space. News outlets reported on potential regulations in Europe and ongoing discussions with regulators in the US [Reuters, CoinDesk].

  • Institutional Investors Remain Interested: Despite the market volatility, there are signs that institutional investors are still interested in the crypto space. For instance, news sources reported on a California-based crypto investment platform pivoting to target institutional investors and wealthy clients [Forbes]. I continue to believe the ETFs at Blackrock, Fidelity, and others will pick up speed as the year goes on. Blackrock has already sold more than $15 billion of Bitcoin ETFs. It is the largest ETF launch of any kind ever.

DeFi and Security Concerns:

  • Focus on DeFi Security: Following some recent high-profile hacks of DeFi protocols, there’s a continued push for enhanced security within the DeFi space [Cointelegraph]. This includes security audits, bug bounty programs, and the development of more secure DeFi platforms.

Layer 2 Scaling Solutions:

  • Continued Adoption: Layer 2 scaling solutions, designed to improve scalability and transaction speeds on blockchains, continue to gain traction [Forbes]. Projects like Polygon and Arbitrum are witnessing increased adoption.

Here are some additional points to consider:

  • Stay updated with news from reliable sources like CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, and The Block.
  • Remember, the crypto market is known for its volatility. Don’t make investment decisions based on short-term price movements.
  • Conduct your own research before investing in any cryptocurrency project.
