The image is square for a reason. It is not a book cover, it represents the Audible version of the book. About 20 years ago, I sat next to Don Katz, Founder and CEO of Audible, at a technology conference. I remember how bullish he was about audio books. Most people were skeptical at the time and the company struggled for some time. Then Amazon bought the company for $300 million in 2008. Don’s optimism was justified. The WSJ this morning announced audiobooks are the fastest growing format for books with sales growth in 2015 of 21%. Amazon has made it really easy to take advantage of Audible by enabling readers to read a book on Kindle, get in the car or go out for run and continue listening where you left off on the Kindle, and then pick it back up on the Kindle when you return.
After I published Health Attitude last year, I decided to offer audiobook versions. Audible’s author website has a slick process to create the audio version. The site lets you pick the age, gender, accent, style, etc. of producers. I uploaded a 1,000 word sample and then auditioned a dozen interested producers. I selected John Edmondson, CEO and Chief Voice Officer of Voices of the Office in Phoenix. John was a pleasure to work with and I have gotten excellent feedback from listeners. I have a handful of complimentary copies of the Audible version of Health Attitude. If you would like one, please send me an email at [email protected]. If you would like to listen to just a sample, click here.
Election Attitude is coming soon.
