Our days in Hong Kong were great. The visits to Chan May, Nha Trang, and Saigon in Vietnam were even better. The trip up the Saigon river was especially interesting because of the huge variety of ships we saw. Economic development was abundantly clear. Ho Chi Minh City was extremely interesting. We saw the Pagoda, the French built Notre Dame, and a fascinating history museum. Eight million people, six million motorbikes. Crossing a street was extremely dangerous. One American dollar is worth 22,000 Vietnamese dollars. Hard to believe the transformation from 1967 when I was a senior in college and one thousand Americans died every week. The people in Vietnam were gracious and hold no grudges. Now we are back on the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. We arrive in Bangkok at 8am.
