On Thursday, July 3, 2003 The Times showed a picture of the 21,529,464th “Beetle” built worldwide. It rolled off the production line in Puebla, Mexico and will be shipped to a car museum in Volkswagen’s headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany.
The link to the New York Times story may not work if you are not a Times subscriber. I was going to post the story or at least a summary of it but the Times is very restrictive about this. They charge $100 for a summary to be posted for one month or $600 to post the entire story for a year.
